Hello world, it’s The Rockwell!

This is the first of our weekly blogs to come, bringing you all of the excitement we have on offer at the time. Cape Town is blerrie freezing at the moment and although that means the V&A Waterfront might be easier to traffic due to an efflux in visitors, it also means that you’d probably prefer cosying up indoors in our spacious accommodation with a prime view of Table Mountain and the harbour, over mucking about the rainy docks.

We’ve got you covered.

Our School Holiday Madness special was such a hit, that we’ve decided to keep it going. This special offers you a night’s accommodation for two adults and two children, including a drink on arrival, full buffet breakfast, free basement parking, free Wi-Fi access in The Rockwell Café & Bar. Plus, we’ve thrown in 4 tickets to the Two Oceans Aquarium to keep everyone entertained or you know, to indulge you in your Little Mermaid fantasies - we’re not here to judge. Read more here for details on our offer.

Free Wi-Fi isn’t the only thing The Rockwell Café & Bar has to brag with. Beat the freeze with our ongoing winter special of Lamb Shank or Oxtail Stew, including a starch of your choice and seasonal vegetables for only R165 per person. For those of you in our self-catering apartments, this is the perfect excuse to get away from pretending to want to cook. Call 021 421 0015 to make a reservation.

We’re also hosting #SuperSaturdays for all of the rugby enthusiasts, the perfect all day, every Saturday ode to the game. Join us this week for big screen-broadcasting, beer bucket-soaking, snack basket-indulging Currie Cup fun as the Free State Cheetahs take on the Sharks. Read more here for details on our offer.

Perhaps you’re feeling a little more, er, cultured? Our upcoming show @ The Rockwell Dinner Theatre is probably up your street. Enjoy dinner and a show with Barry Hilton, everyone’s favourite cousin (or uncle if you’re too young to know what that means - though we have to question if you should really be in attendance then), for our show on the 4th. Doors open at 19:00, show starts at 19:45. A full bar service and dinner menu will be available. Tickets are available from Quicket for R125.00 per person.

If you are strong enough to brave the outside world during your stay in Cape Town, then there are a few events around town for everybody this weekend. Disney on Ice has returned for it’s yearly stint at Grand West, running from 19-23 July. The Cape Town Festival of Running is taking place this weekend, starting and finishing on the Sea Point promenade if you fancy it. South African EDM groups PHFAT and Haezer are playing a not-so-secret secret show somewhere in Stellenbosch if you don’t mind a little last minute scouting. For more details  or a concise list of what’s going on in the Mother City during your stay with us, visit www.whatsonincapetown.com.

Not to be that guy, but here’s a tiny bit of housekeeping. Cape Town’s been thirsty lately and The Rockwell is really trying to do its bit to keep our city thriving, hence, we will be instating the current revised water restrictions at our hotel. Also, keeping a considered eye on your water consumption would be much appreciated.

For more information on how you can do your bit to save water visit the City of Cape Town’s Department of Water and Sanitation’s guidelines here.

See you soon, guys.
