Your Guide to the Best Cape Town Christmas Markets

Summer has finally arrived! Well, officially only on December 22nd, but let’s not ruin the moment, shall we?

The long sunny days, warm weather, stunning sunsets, balmy nights and beach days will soon be upon us. What more could we ask for when it comes to enjoying Christmas in the southern hemisphere?

Holiday shopping can be, and usually is, quite stressful as we walk through malls bustling with busy people eager to get their gift shopping done. Thankfully, we’ve put together a master list of all the fun, calm Cape Town Christmas markets where you can enjoy a more relaxed shopping atmosphere filled with unique gifts and delicious food & refreshments.

 

  1. Made in the Cape Festive Fair:
    1. Where: Cavendish Square, Dreyer Street, Claremont
    2. When: 30 November – 16 December 2018 | 9am – 7pm daily (5pm on Sundays)
    3. What: An annual festive fair featuring a selection of local small businesses selling handmade décor, design, jewellery, gifts and more. Stalls will be found on the lower ground floor, ground floor and first floor spread throughout the halls.
    4. Cost: Entry is Free

 

  1. Pinelands Craft & Gift Fair:
    1. Where: Kent Hall, Pinelands High School, Forest Drive, Pinelands
    2. When: 3-22 December 2018 | Weekdays 9am-7pm | Sat & Sun 9am-5pm
    3. What: This fun and festive gift fair takes place every December and includes a selection of gifts exhibited by 160 crafters with one central pay-point. You will find a wide variety of handcrafted cards, Christmas decorations, delicious treats, leatherwork, jewellery and so much more.

  1. Edgemead Christmas Market:
    1. Where: Edgemead Community Hall, Edgemead Drive, Cape Town
    2. When: 7-22 December 2018 | 10am-8pm daily, including Sundays
    3. What: One of Cape Town’s largest Christmas markets featuring more than 250 of the finest crafters from around the cape.
    4. Cost: Entry is Free

 

  1. Simply South Craft & Gift Fair:
    1. Where: NG Kerk Constantia, corner of Ladies Mile Road & Firgrove Road, Bergvliet
    2. When: 3-22 December 2018 | Weekdays: 10am-8pm | Saturdays 10am-5pm | Closed on Sundays
    3. What: An indoor gift and craft fair featuring over 200 crafters from around the Cape selling toys, home décor, delicious food and more.
    4. Cost: Entry is Free

 

  1. Blue Bird Garage Christmas Market:
    1. Where: Blue Bird Garage, 39 Albertyn Road, Muizenberg
    2. When: 2 & 7 December 2018 only | Sunday 2 Dec 11am-4pm | Friday 7 Dec 4pm-10pm
    3. What: An annual Christmas Market providing all your holiday shopping needs with a fun space to eat & drink while you are at it. There is also a play area for the little ones to keep them busy!
    4. Cost: Entry is Free

 

  1. Santa’s Fair:
    1. Where: Corner of Broadway Blvd & Da Gama Road, Strand
    2. When: 5-28 December 2018 | Weekdays 9am-7pm | Saturday 9am-5pm | Closed on Sundays
    3. What: An annual market boasting a selection of quality exhibitors selling crafts, gourmet condiments, décor and home baked goods.
    4. Cost: Entry is Free

 

  1. Fab Ideas Christmas Gift Fair:
    1. Where: Kommetjie Community Hall, Teubes Road
    2. When: 14-17 December 2018 | Friday 9am-6pm | Saturday 9am-7pm | Sunday & Monday 9am-5pm
    3. What: A four-day shopping fair including over 120 indoor exhibitors selling funky and exciting products from jewellery, clothing, décor, gadgets and so much more. All items are equipped with barcodes to keep the purchasing process as simple as possible, and cash, credit or debit is accepted.

  1. Chilled Market at the Range | Festive Food Market:
    1. Where: The Range, Orpen Road, Cape Town
    2. When: 19, 20 & 21 December 2018 | 4:30-9:30pm
    3. What: The Chilled Market at the Range, usually occurring every Friday evening, is now hosting a festive food market including local wines, craft beer, a gin & cocktail bar and a large array of local & international eats. Don’t forget to bring the little ones along to visit Santa, too!

  1. Kirstenbosch Craft & Food Market:
    1. Where: Old Biscuit Mill
    2. When: 9 & 23 December 2018 only | 9am-3pm
    3. What: A festive market where you will find crafts, artisan foods, clothing, pottery & jewellery, to name a few!
    4. Cost: Entry is Free
